All go at Innerleithen Downhill

Downhill mountain biking at Innerleithen has been given a welcome boost with Forestry Commission Scotland signing on a new business to run the vehicle uplift facilities for riders. The new business will be run by 'Uplift Scotland' which is operated by David Tallontine, a keen mountain biker and entrepreneur from Dumfries. 'Tally' is well known in biking circles and has been successfully operating the uplift services at Ae's downhill site for a number of years. The new uplift service at Innerleithen will start on the weekend 28th and 29th July. Hugh McKay of Forestry Commission Scotland said: "We will be very pleased to be able to get the venue buzzing again with riders. The Innerleithen routes are very popular and there's plenty of races booked in throughout the year. I know the start of the uplift service will be a welcome boost for riders and the spin-offs of more bikers to the area will benefit local businesses too." Tally added: "I've been in the biking business for seven years now and have ridden many times competitively on the downhill circuit. Innerleithen's reputation is huge and I'm personally really pleased to be managing the uplift service for bikers. "I've been working closely with Forestry Commission Scotland to get the uplift up and running. They are just as keen as I am to help develop Innerleithen as a first class place for riders. I hope riders enjoy and continue to use the uplift so that Innerleithen's reputation grows even bigger."
